ABSTRAK
Rancangan Sistem Monitoring Radiasi Gamma Lingkungan Stack Monitor RSG. Telah dirancang suatu sistem pencacah dan pemantau radiasi gamma untuk digunakan di suatu instalasi nuklir. Alat ini dirancang untuk memantau radiasi gamma yang dilepas ke lingkungan selama operasi suatu instalasi nuklir. Efluen radioaktif harus diperhatikan secara intensif. Dalam keadaan normal, biasanya dihasilkan produk samping bahan radioaktif. Produk samping padat biasanya dikungkung di daerah terkendali, tetapi lepasnya produk samping gas dan voletil ke lingkungan sulit dicegah. Selain itu Radionuklida hasil fisi antara lain seperti Cs-137 pemancar gamma, dan Sr-90 adalah pemancar beta. Masing-masing memiliki masa paruh yang panjang yaitu 30 tahun dan 28 tahun.
Pemantauan efluen-efeluen tersebut dan tingkat radioaktifitas dalam suatu instalasi nuklir harus dilakukan terus-menerus supaya peningkatan radiasi atau radioaktifitas lingkungan dapat diketahui dengan segera. Degan demikian, perlu dirancang suatu sistem pemantauan on-line. Sistem yang dirancang di sini untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut terdiri dari suatu sistem diteksi, suatu sistem komunikasi data, dan suatu sistem pengolah data. Setelah terpasang, sistem pemantau radiasi lingkungan ini memantau lingkungan secara otomatis. Data yang dihasilkan sistem detektor dikirim secara on-line ke unit pengolah data melalui sistem komunikasi nirkabel. Data ini dapat dioleh menjadi tabel, grafik, animasi maupun tanda-tanda peringatan.

ABSTRACT
The Design of a Gamma Radiation Environmental Monitoring Syste for Stack Monitor at RSGm. A gamma radiation counting and monitoring system for use in a nuclear installation was designed. This equipment is designed for monitoring gamma radiation released to the environment during the operation of a nuclear installation. Any radioactive effluents have to be intensively examined. During normal situations, some radioactive byproducts usually occur. Solid radioactive byproducts are confined in controlled areas, but gaseous and voltile by products are difficult to prevent from escaping to the environment. Further, fission product radio nuclides such as Cs-137 and Sr-90 also occur. Cs-137 is a beta and gamma emitter, while Sr-90 is beta emitter, and both have long half times of 30 and 28 years, respectively.
Those effluents and the radioactive level in a nuclear installation have to be continually monitored so that any increases in radiation or environmental radioactivity level is detected immediately. Thus, an on-line monitoring system has to be designed. The system designed here to fulfill that need consists of detection system, a data communication system, and a data processing system. After installed, the environmental radiation monitoring system automatically monitors the environment.The data produce by the detector is sent on-line to the data processing center through wireless communication system. The data could be processed into table, graphs, animations and alarms.
